Epicor put dates on the funeral in January. Kinetic, Prophet 21 and BisTrack get their final on-premises releases between 2026 and 2028 — Kinetic's last one lands January 2028 as version 2028.1, BisTrack Desktop bows out this December — and Active Support for the on-prem line ends with 2029. After that: security patches, nothing new.
The sharper deadline already happened, though. May's Kinetic 2026.1 release killed the Classic Smart Client outright. Every customisation, every business process anyone ever bolted onto that old interface now has to be rebuilt in the browser-based UI through Application Studio. There are more than 20,000 businesses running on-premises Epicor. Do the maths on how many consultants that work needs.
What this does to hiring
It's already visible on our desk, and in the market numbers: the North American Epicor partner channel — worth $4.5 billion in 2024 — is heading for $6.2 billion by 2033, with the US carrying roughly $3.4 billion of it. VARs and integrators are staffing cloud migration teams as fast as they can find people, and "as fast as they can find people" is the problem.
Because the skill set moved. Legacy Epicor knowledge on its own doesn't cut it anymore; the migrations need people who know the old architecture and the new one — Application Studio above all, plus REST APIs and Azure hosting. App Studio went from nice-to-have to essential in about one release cycle. We think anyone in the ecosystem who spends this year getting genuinely good at it will be quoting their own price by 2027.
The money already says so. Cloud-experienced mid-level consultants are landing $95,000–$140,000; seniors with proven Kinetic cloud deployments and App Studio depth are seeing $130,000–$175,000, often with 401k matching and partner-firm equity on top. Our full bands, role by role, are in the Epicor salary guide.
Where? Follow the factories: California, Texas, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin lead the open-role counts, though remote-first is standard enough in the US market that the talent competition is national. And remember two-week notices cut both ways — you can hire fast, and you can lose your cloud-skilled people just as fast to a better offer.

If the deadline is yours
Running on-prem Epicor? The 2026–2028 window is the whole game: start the migration before the consultant market prices peak-panic into every engagement. Working in the ecosystem? Check what App Studio skills are worth right now on the salary checker — the answer has changed since last year.
We recruit Epicor people across the US and UK, and this wave is exactly the kind we're built for. Talk to us before everyone else does.
