SAP Business One Recruitment
SAP Business One
Where Henley Morgan started, and still the desk we're known for. B1 consultants, developers, project managers, support engineers and practice leads — placed with partners and end users across the UK, EU and US.
What is SAP Business One?
SAP Business One is SAP's ERP for smaller businesses — think 10 to 250 employees, revenues from a few million to around $250M — running everything from financials and sales through purchasing, inventory and production in one integrated system. What makes the market unusual is the channel: B1 is sold and delivered almost entirely by partners, over 800 of them worldwide serving roughly 70,000 customers, which means partner benches set the pace of the whole hiring market. The platform runs on SQL Server or SAP HANA, and that split matters more than it sounds: HANA-experienced consultants command a real premium over SQL-only peers, and have for years.

Who hires SAP B1 specialists
SAP partners (consultancies)
The bulk of the market. Project-based work, several clients a year, and a well-worn ladder: Consultant, Senior, Lead, Practice Manager. Partner life builds breadth fast.
End user customers
Manufacturers, distributors and services firms running B1 in-house hire their own functional, technical and support people. Slower pace than partner life; deeper ownership.
SAP B1 role families
Functional Consultant
Configures the modules — financials, sales, purchasing, inventory, production, service — then gathers requirements, runs UAT, trains the people who have to live with it afterwards.
Technical Consultant / Developer
Add-ons through the B1 SDK, Crystal Reports and HANA queries, and integrations out to whatever else the client runs: Boyum B1UP, Beas Manufacturing, Magento, Shopify, EDI.
Implementation / Project Manager
Owns the plan, the budget and the client. On the partner side that is as much account management as it is delivery.
Support Consultant
First to third line, on a partner's managed services desk or inside an end user's own team. The most common way into the ecosystem, and an underrated one.
Sales Engineer / Pre Sales
Demos, scoping, the sales cycle. Half commercial and half technical, and rare enough that the good ones are seldom on the market.
Practice Lead / Head of ERP
Runs a B1 practice or an in-house capability, carrying the P&L. Hiring, utilisation, margin — different work entirely from what got you there.
2026 SAP B1 salary benchmarks
Mid-level B1 functional consultants in the UK are on £45,000 to £60,000 in 2026, £75,000 to £95,000 at lead. The US equivalent pays $85,000 to $115,000, with practice directors at $145,000 to $180,000 and above. The clearest premium on the platform is hands-on HANA migration experience, worth 12 to 18% over a SQL-only consultant at the same grade — and the reason is simply that far more people have watched a migration than have run one.

Role-by-role pay bands, premium skills and contract rates across the UK and US.
Certifications that pay a premium
- ✓ SAP Certified Implementation Consultant, B1 Release 10 and HANA — the one partners ask for by name
- ✓ Boyum B1UP: worth 8 to 12% in partner channel roles, and barely known outside them
- ✓ Beas Manufacturing: 10 to 15% if the manufacturing work is where you want to end up, because it thins the candidate field
- ✓ Crystal Reports with SAP Analytics Cloud: 5 to 10% on reporting-heavy roles. Unglamorous, and where projects quietly overrun
- ✓ PRINCE2 or PMP for project managers — usually £5 to 10k in the UK, $10 to 20k in the US
Frequently asked questions
What does a SAP Business One consultant do?
Configures and supports B1, either for a partner or for an end user's finance team. Requirements, configuration, data migration, integration, testing, training, then the long tail of fixes after go-live. The technical half is learnable inside a year. Reading a business well enough to know what it actually needs, rather than what it asked for, takes considerably longer.
What is the average SAP Business One consultant salary in the UK?
£45,000 to £60,000 mid-level in 2026, £60,000 to £75,000 senior, and £100,000 upwards once you are running a practice. London and the South East add roughly 10 to 15% on top.
Do SAP HANA skills increase a B1 consultant's salary?
Yes, by 12 to 18% over SQL-only consultants at the same seniority. Partners still have a migration backlog to work through and not enough people who have done one before. We see no sign of that easing before 2027.
Where are the best SAP Business One jobs in the UK?
London and the South East, because that is where the partners are, then Manchester, followed by Birmingham and Leeds. End user roles track manufacturing and distribution instead — the M62, the Thames Valley, the Midlands. Nearly everything is hybrid now, which in practice matters more than the postcode.
