About the role
We are recruiting for a well-established manufacturing business seeking a Senior IT & Systems Development Engineer to own the development and extension of their SAP Business One system. Following an internal move, the business needs a dedicated resource to take ownership of SAP B1 development, wider IT support and ongoing projects including shop floor data capture, ERP extensions and web applications.
You'll work closely with the Head of Finance (who has recently inherited responsibility for IT) and collaborate across the business to deliver solutions that improve data quality, streamline processes and support expansion into new industries including nuclear and defence.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the development and extension of SAP Business One, building supporting web applications around ERP data and integrating with IoT and Factory 4.0 implementations
- Develop and roll out self-built shop floor data capture systems including tablets across the factory to improve data quality for business intelligence and accurate manufacturing reporting
- Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software solutions that streamline and automate business processes
- Write SQL queries, generate reports and extract data from SAP B1 to support operations, finance and other stakeholders
- Support EDI exchanges with customers, resolve EDI issues and provide technical support and troubleshooting for users across the business
- Manage third-party IT suppliers and contract renewals, and assist the external IT support provider with tickets that cannot be resolved remotely
What We're Looking For
- SAP Business One experience with a good understanding of how it operates across core modules, combined with a wider IT background and hands-on technical skills
- Strong SQL and query-writing skills with experience working with relational databases and extracting data for reporting and analysis
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Ideally 5 years of relevant experience with a practical approach to problem-solving and debugging
- Someone who is engaging and comfortable working directly with users, willing to communicate across the business and build relationships at all levels
- SAP Business One SDK and/or Service Layer experience would be an advantage but is not essential, as would experience developing SAP B1 extensions and add-ons, or familiarity with IoT platforms and Industry 4.0 technologies

- A salary of £45,000 – £55,000, with flexibility to go higher for the right person
