About the role
We're working with an established SAP partner in Charlotte who deliver S/4HANA implementations, system conversions and technical development projects for clients across manufacturing, finance and distribution. As a Technical Consultant / Developer, you'll be responsible for building custom extensions, ABAP development on HANA, integrations using SAP BTP and CPI, and working with Fiori and UI5 to deliver tailored solutions that extend core S/4HANA functionality. You'll collaborate closely with functional consultants and client technical teams to translate requirements into clean, efficient code, support data migration and interface builds, and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a hands-on technical role with genuine variety, working across multiple client projects rather than being confined to a single system. You'll join a supportive development team with opportunities to work on greenfield S/4HANA builds as well as ECC to S/4HANA conversions, exposure to cloud integration tools, and structured support towards technical certifications. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver custom ABAP development on SAP S/4HANA including enhancements, user exits, BAdIs, custom reports and interfaces, ensuring code is optimised for the HANA database and follows SAP best practice
- Build and maintain integrations between S/4HANA and third-party systems using SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), APIs, IDocs and middleware tools, ensuring dependable data flow and error handling
- Develop Fiori and UI5 applications to deliver tailored user experiences, working with OData services, annotations and SAP Gateway to extend standard S/4HANA functionality
- Support data migration activities by developing conversion programmes, validating data loads and working with functional teams to ensure accurate transfer from legacy ERP systems
- Troubleshoot technical issues across custom code, interfaces and system performance, conducting root cause analysis and implementing fixes in line with project timelines
- Collaborate with functional consultants and client stakeholders to gather technical requirements, propose solutions and provide guidance on feasibility, effort and technical risk
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience with ABAP development on SAP S/4HANA or ECC, including core programming, enhancements, reports and debugging, with a solid understanding of HANA-optimised coding techniques
- Exposure to Fiori, UI5 or SAP Gateway development would be a strong advantage, as would experience with SAP BTP, CPI or other cloud integration tools (or the ability to pick these up quickly)
- Familiarity with integration patterns such as IDocs, RFCs, APIs or web services, and the ability to design and build dependable interfaces between S/4HANA and external systems
- A structured, methodical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work through technical challenges independently while knowing when to escalate or collaborate
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, gather requirements and work effectively in client-facing situations
- Candidates who combine ABAP development with emerging S/4HANA cloud tools and a willingness to continue learning as the platform evolves will stand out
